Welcome to Behind the Desk
What is behind the desk?
I am going to show you all my favorite, inspiring bloggers & their desks. Sounds silly but you'd be surprised about how many people WANT to see where all the magic happens. Well, I am going to show you. This week I have brought to you Ms. Melyssa Griffin of thenectarcollective.com. I actually found Melyssa on Pinterst - Now my boards are filled with her helpful information! As a venturing entrepreneur I was really attracted to the positivity and the #hellyes attitude of the site.
Who is Melyssa...
Melyssa is the main contributor of the Nectar Collective. Her collective started in 2013, when she was in Japan (how cool) & the blog became a creative outlet that soon became her life. She quickly turned her passion into a profit in just 8 months. Now she is rooted in Los Angeles, leading the collective into a new phase. Melyssa is taking her blog even further by offering online blog, branding and Pinterest classes!
1. What are three items on your desk you can't go without?
Aside from my computer, I always need my planner close by, a notebook where I can scribble out some ideas, and a pitcher full of water.
2. If I could steal something from your desk to help me with my blog, what would I take?
An external hard drive! I've got other things on my desk that might be more fun, but none of those things will matter if I somehow lose all of my files. I like to keep it on my desk to remind me to back up my computer regularly.
3. MAC or PC?
Mac all the way! PCs give me anxiety. ;)
4. What's the last song you listened to?
I believe it was Coffee by Sylvan Esso, which was a slow form of torture as I gave up coffee yesterday. It's a great song though!
5. Organized? Or Organized Hot Mess?
I have a strong love for organizing things, but I find it only comes in waves. Most of the time, my desk is a hot mess, with a space cleared out solely for my computer and planner. Other times, like this morning, I'll get a jolt of crazed energy and decide to clean my entire desk, including the use of a sponge and reorganizing every single thing.
I definitely feel more productive and focused in an organized space though, so the best thing for me is to buy things where I can store all of my miscellaneous supplies. That way they're still a hot mess...but I can't see them. :)
6. What book would you suggest everyone read?
"Tiny Beautiful Things" by Cheryl Strayed. I think it should be mandatory reading for all humans.
7. What your spirit animal?
To be honest, I'd have to say my corgi, Monja. My boyfriend and I were analyzing him recently and realized that we basically have the same personality. He's happy, loving, protective, but a little feisty. He also loves eating, so we're practically twins.
